Job summary

Mursla Bio, a UK-based precision medicine company, is seeking an experienced Director of R&D to lead the multidisciplinary R&D team and translate scientific strategy into executable programmes. Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent research experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, proteomics, cell biology, molecular diagnostics, computational biology or a related field.
• Significant experience leading complex R&D programmes in a commercial setting.
• Demonstrated experience leading and developing scientists in a multidisciplinary R&D environment.
• Strong project and programme-management capability, including milestones, dependencies, risks and resources.
• Expertise in one or more core technology areas (extracellular vesicles, liquid biopsy, proteomics, transcriptomics, protein assays, sequencing or multi-omics) and experience handling human clinical samples.
• Experience with bioinformatics teams and interpreting complex multiomic data.
• Experience progressing research toward diagnostic or companion-diagnostic development.
• Experience contributing to publications, grants, IP or external presentations.
• Experience supporting external scientific collaborations and due diligence.

Responsibilities

• Lead the multidisciplinary R&D team with accountability for projects and deliverables.
• Set objectives, provide feedback and coaching to scientists at different levels.
• Build a collaborative culture of scientific rigour and knowledge-sharing.
• Own delivery of the R&D roadmap with milestones and decision points.
• Develop and manage realistic project plans including timelines and resources.
• Ensure programmes generate evidence for technical, product and commercial decisions.
