Job summary

AstraZeneca Cambridge is seeking a Director, Translational Pathology to lead the scientific quality, prioritisation, and delivery of the Translational Pathology portfolio. The role combines strategic oversight, line management, and hands‑on contribution to provide timely, decision‑enabling insights across the R&D portfolio.

Qualifications

• Postdoctoral or equivalent experience in histopathology within pharma/biotech.
• Expertise in immunohistochemistry including assay development and interpretation.
• Experience with GCLP/GLP and ISO 15189/17025 and audits.
• Proven ability to lead multiple projects and manage priorities.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide scientific leadership across the Translational Pathology portfolio, ensuring studies are fit for purpose and generate interpretable data to inform programme decisions.
• Act as an expert in histopathology, tissue-based biomarkers, immunohistochemistry, digital pathology, image analysis, tissue quality, staining interpretation, and data review.
• Lead assigned scientific projects or workstreams, contributing to experimental design, pathology review, data interpretation, and delivery of outputs.
• Ensure pathology activities align with GCP requirements, approved protocols, controlled procedures, and quality standards.
• Coordinate preparation, quality review, interpretation, documentation, and handover of complete pathology data packages.
