Job summary

PwC in the United Kingdom seeks a Legal Tax Disputes Director to lead complex HMRC investigations and tax litigation, with a focus on corporate tax disputes. You will shape strategy, develop client relationships and mentor senior and junior lawyers within the Tax Disputes practice.

The role requires current practising certificate and substantial UK direct tax expertise, with a track record in building and winning high-stakes disputes and supporting business development across sectors.

Qualifications

• Qualified solicitor or barrister with a current practising certificate.
• Extensive experience conducting complex HMRC investigations, tax litigation and alternative dispute resolution.
• Strong knowledge of UK direct tax, particularly corporation tax.
• Proven track record of building and maintaining client relationships and contributing to business development.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, strategic advice at a senior level.
• Ability to mentor and develop junior team members.

Responsibilities

• Take day-to-day conduct of complex HMRC investigations, litigation and ADR, supporting the network leadership.
• Help develop the market for direct taxes legal disputes work and support the go-to-market plan with Tax, Legal and relevant sector and specialist teams.
• Enhance key client relationships and LPP-dependent matters through close coordination with the legal partners.
• Mentor more junior members of the team, contributing to capability building across the practice.
• Drive business development and support the practice’s longer-term growth ambitions.
