Summary

As the Director, Social Growth, you will be responsible for the strategic development and execution of social media strategies to accelerate audience growth, enhance brand awareness, and maximize revenue opportunities for SailGP. This leadership role requires an individual who can inspire teams, champion best practices, and provide clear strategic direction. You will lead and mentor a high-performing team while fostering strong collaborative relationships across global teams. You will also work closely with Data and Insights to analyze trends, propose and test strategies, and benchmark performance against comparable leagues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy to drive engagement, brand awareness, and revenue for SailGP.
  • Deliver significant audience growth across all social channels.
  • Lead and manage social publishing and growth strategies across league entities and events.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to execute the global digital distribution strategy, including paid media activation.
  • Collaborate with Partnerships to drive opportunities for Sponsors and Partners.
  • Provide data-driven insights to optimize campaign performance.
  • Drive acquisition and conversion across key league properties, including event attendance, broadcast tune-in, website, and Purpose initiatives.
  • Establish SailGP as a leading global league in social media execution.
  • Oversee social media content publishing calendars, editorial planning, and channel management.
  • Manage budgets and paid media spend, working with external agencies.
  • Generate regular reports in alignment with Event Marketing and Insights teams.
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders across various departments (Marcomms, Content, Broadcast, Technology, Digital, Teams, and Athletes).
  • Foster an open and collaborative working environment between publishing and content creation teams.
  • Execute digital rights globally against Linear agreements and advise on strategy for Linear agreements.
  • Grow digital live and on-demand audience race on race/season on season.

About You

  • Has worked with Sports Media, Sports Leagues and teams in a similar role.
  • Proven experience in developing and executing social media strategies.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience with paid media initiatives and budget management.
  • Data-driven approach to decision-making and campaign optimization.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of social media trends, best practices, and tool management.

Location

London, UK. Hybrid working model with a minimum of 3 days per week in the London Office.
