Endlyz Therapeutics, Hybrid (London & Oxford), United Kingdom

EndLyz Therapeutics is a dynamic biotech start-up focused on developing small-molecule disease-modifying therapeutics that restore endo-lysosomal function and abrogate neurodegeneration in Parkinson’s and other dementias. We are seeking a Director/Senior Director of Pharmacology (Pharmacology Lead) to drive our small molecule discovery efforts and help advance our portfolio through early discovery towards clinical development. This hybrid role involves close collaboration with academic and CRO partners with regular presence in both our London and Oxford offices (2 days per week onsite).

The role
You will steer our small-molecule screening activities and conduct research guaranteeing the continuous innovation and timely progress of our portfolio. This is a career-defining opportunity to apply your scientific expertise and lead from the front, reporting directly to the CEO. You will champion our partnership with our network of collaborators and CRO’s to generate data and progress our discovery efforts.

A great opportunity to work at the cutting-edge of neurodegeneration drug discovery, you will be involved in projects from early exploratory through to early clinical development. You will apply your drug discovery and project management skills to support our mission of developing much-needed disease-modifying therapeutics for neurodegenerative diseases.

The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of pharmacology, small-molecule screening technologies and a proven record of driving projects forward in a dynamic and collaborative manner, ensuring that our academic and industrial partners deliver to achieve our goals.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead all pharmacology & screening activities across our discovery pipeline
  • Drive strategic direction and delivery, ensuring scientific excellence
  • Collaborate closely with consultants, CROs and academic partners to shape and execute project workplans
  • Interpret and present data to scientific and investor audiences
  • Contribute to company-wide decision-making and long-term R&D strategy
  • Champion rigorous documentation and data integrity standards

Skills & experience

  • A PhD and ideally 10 years of relevant industrial experience in drug discovery.
  • In depth knowledge of modern pharmacology and screening technologies with an excellent attention to detail and a quality-focused mindset.
  • Significant experience with small molecule modulators of transporter, GPCR, or ion channel pharmacology as applied to drug discovery projects targeting the CNS.
  • Sound knowledge of flow-scheme assays development for drug discovery.
  • Track record of direct accountability for project pharmacology and screening leadership and delivery supporting drug discovery projects.
  • Experience working with CROs, consultants and academic partnerships.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • A highly motivated team player who proactively collaborates with other team members.
  • Knowledge of the field of Parkinson’s and neurodegenerative disease biology.

About us:
We are developing small-molecule therapeutics targeting ATP13A2 and ATP10B lysosomal transporters. Both targets are critical for maintaining neuronal health, contribute to neurodegeneration and are linked to human diseases. We are a small, fast-moving team of four working in close partnership with a large network of academic collaborators, consultants, contractors and CROs.

We are backed by leading investors including the Dementia Discovery Fund, Oxford Science Enterprises, AbbVie, CD3, and Parkinson’s UK, and are guided by an experienced board and scientific founders. As we prepare for Series A, we’re building a pipeline of first-in-class lysosomal targets with the potential to transform the treatment of neurodegenerative disease. Visit endlyz.com to learn more.

What we can offer:

  • Competitive remuneration, dependent on skills and prior experience.
  • Hybrid working with onsite presence at our offices in Oxford or London, as required (2 days per week).
  • Competitive benefits including contributory pension, private medical, income protection, life assurance and annual discretionary bonus.
  • Join a high-impact, close-knit team backed by world-class investors.
  • Equal opportunity employer – we celebrate diversity & are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
