About the role

This is a fantastic opportunity to lead the development and improvement of an embedded QHSE strategy across KION ITS UK & Ireland businesses.

The Group operates across 20 UK & Ireland Sales and Service locations, employing approximately 2000 employees, of which there are 1200 field engineers providing a range of field and site-based engineering services. With significant improvements in recent years within QHSE, the opportunity to drive and embed further behavioural change and engagement is obvious and vast.

Managing a geographically disperse team, and working with the regional SVP, the new QHSE Director will lead the development of this. strategy and its execution working with a variety of stakeholders across the operating divisions. They will also sit as part of a EMEA QHSE team sharing best practice top further the overall organisational strategy.

Please note this role can be based throughout the UK, with a preference to be based close to one of KION Groups UK/Ireland sites.

Key responsibilities

- The development and implementation of a regional QHSE strategy aligned to business goals and best practice

- The leadership and development of a nationwide QHSE team to deliver behavioural change and manage performance

- Engagement with EMEA QHSE working groups, communities and external bodies to drive best practice within region and group-wide

- The development of a safety and quality culture that empowers ownership, compliance and continuous improvement at every level

- Adherence to and the delivery of training and improvement to meet all internal/external QHSE audit activities to maintain various ISO (9001, 14001, 45001) and Sustainability standards

Candidate requirements

We are seeking to appoint an experienced QHSE leader who can demonstrate a track record of driving behavioural change and QHSE performance within a complex manufacturing or engineering services environment.

Specifically, they will possess most of the following:

- Demonstrable senior QHSE leadership experience within a service/manufacturing industry or other relevant process environment

- Degree-level education in a relevant discipline (Business, Engineering, Quality, or HSE)

- Lead Auditor certification and broad HSE qualifications

- Professional membership of IOSH or equivalent (e.g. NEBOSH, Tech IOSH, Environmental Management)

- Proficient in continuous improvement tools: PDCA, Six Sigma, VSM, 5 Whys, APQP4Wind

- Up to date knowledge of both existing and impending QHSE legislation with the ability to interpret, prioritise and leverage best practice

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills - especially in translating technical concepts to wider audiences including EMEA HQ

- Gravitas combined with agility

- Proven ability to develop and execute strategies, plans and budgets in line with overall business objectives
