WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
The Director, Design QA ensures that web applications, user interfaces, and digital experiences are built to the highest standards, aligning with design specifications and user expectations. The role involves identifying, debugging, and resolving design inconsistencies, usability issues, and user experience flaws before they reach production.
You are:
- Detail-oriented and analytical, with a sharp eye for pixel-perfect execution and a deep understanding of interaction design principles.
- Experienced in front-end technologies, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js, enabling troubleshooting of implementation gaps.
- Proficient in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD, and able to evaluate whether implemented designs match mockups.
- A natural problem-solver, comfortable diagnosing issues related to responsive design, performance, accessibility, and usability.
- Familiar with automation and testing methodologies, including visual regression and functional UI testing.
- A collaborative communicator, able to work closely with designers, developers, and product teams to improve quality.
- Passionate about user experience, committed to ensuring seamless, intuitive, and accessible digital products.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Design QA & Issue Identification
- Review digital product implementations to ensure fidelity to design specifications, identifying inconsistencies in layout, typography, spacing, and interaction patterns.
- Conduct manual and automated visual regression testing to detect unintended UI changes across breakpoints and platforms.
- Identify and debug usability issues, interaction inconsistencies, and performance bottlenecks affecting user experience.
- Validate accessibility compliance, ensuring adherence to WCAG standards and best practices.
Debugging & Collaboration
- Work closely with front-end developers to troubleshoot and resolve UI/UX issues, providing detailed feedback and solutions.
- Partner with designers to refine design specifications, ensuring clarity, implementability, and optimization for real-world usage.
- Collaborate with product managers to prioritize and address critical design issues impacting usability and satisfaction.
- Establish and maintain documentation of design QA processes, best practices, and known issues for ongoing reference.
Process Improvement & Automation
- Define and implement a robust design QA workflow, integrating automated UI testing tools (e.g., Storybook, Percy, Chromatic) into the development pipeline.
- Advocate for a shift-left testing approach, embedding QA practices earlier in the design and development cycle.
- Continuously refine testing methodologies, leveraging emerging tools and frameworks to improve efficiency and coverage.
- Conduct usability testing sessions to gather insights and validate design decisions.
WHAT WILL YOU NEED?
- Proven experience in design QA, front-end development, or UI/UX testing, with a strong portfolio demonstrating attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Expertise in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern front-end frameworks for effective debugging.
- Proficiency in design tools like Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD for assessing implementation accuracy.
- Experience with automated testing tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Storybook, Percy, Chromatic) for UI validation.
- Strong understanding of responsive design, accessibility standards (WCAG), and usability best practices.
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and Agile workflows.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to provide clear, constructive feedback.
- A passion for delivering high-quality digital experiences that enhance user engagement and satisfaction.
