As our new Director of Policy, Advocacy & Government Affairs you will be at the forefront of formulating and executing strategies to elevate our business profile and influence within the public policy arena.

You will ensure that we are positively shaping Government policy, enhancing access to medicines and making a real difference in the lives of patients.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and Inspire : Develop and manage a high-performing team of three professionals dedicated to Policy, Advocacy & Government Affairs. Attract top talent, remove obstacles, and empower your team to excel.
  • Shape Public Policy : Champion and execute initiatives that influence political debates, legislation, and national policies, all aimed at optimizing patient access to medicines.
  • Build Relationships : Forge and maintain trust-based connections with a wide range of stakeholders, including government officials, advisers, policymakers, and influencers. Be the face of our company in these interactions.
  • Advocate for Patients : Engage with patient advocacy groups to ensure their voices are heard and collaborate on shared priorities to improve patient outcomes.
  • Strategic Counsel : Provide expert advice to our organization on navigating the ever-changing policy and political landscape. Share insights and guide our approach to public policy challenges.
  • Represent Our Interests : Actively participate in trade associations to ensure our interests are well-represented and maximized
  • Advise Senior Leadership : Work closely with senior executives, including the Chief Executive, to enhance our engagement with the UK Government.

What We're Looking For

  • A passionate advocate with a proven track record in pharmaceutical/health policy, advocacy, or government affairs, with proven ability to secure political impact and policy change. You will have worked in the area for at least eight years.
  • An innovative thinker with a thorough knowledge and understanding of UK politics, the national health landscape, public health priorities and medicines and life sciences policies.
  • A compelling communicator capable of absorbing and summarising complex issues for diverse audiences
  • Effective leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop a talented team.
  • Excellent relationship-building abilities with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to navigate complex policy environments.
  • Commitment to improving patient access to innovative therapies.

Responsibilities

BMS has an occupancy structure that determines where an employee is required to conduct their work. This structure includes site-essential, site-by-design, field-based and remote-by-design jobs. The occupancy type that you are assigned is determined by the nature and responsibilities of your role:

Site-essential roles require 100% of shifts onsite at your assigned facility. Site-by-design roles may be eligible for a hybrid work model with at least 50% onsite at your assigned facility. For these roles, onsite presence is considered an essential job function and is critical to collaboration, innovation, productivity, and a positive Company culture. For field-based and remote-by-design roles the ability to physically travel to visit customers, patients or business partners and to attend meetings on behalf of BMS as directed is an essential job function.
