Job summary

SCOR in London is seeking a Head of Underwriting Strategy & Performance to enhance underwriting profitability, diversify the portfolio and reduce volatility in a soft market. You will act as a trusted advisor to the CUO and leadership, coordinating cross-functional initiatives across underwriting, pricing, claims, actuarial, exposure management and reinsurance.

Qualifications

• Actuarial background is advantageous but not required.
• Experience in insurance and underwriting.
• Proven track record of applying commercial acumen for concrete business outcomes.
• Strong numeric skills and ability to interpret complex data.
• Highly organised with strong project management abilities.
• Good team player with internal and external networking.
• Ability to interact with stakeholders locally in London and globally.

Responsibilities

• Improve underwriting net profitability and portfolio balance.
• Support pricing and underwriting with data-driven insights for risk selection.
• Define portfolio positioning across market cycles and remediation strategies.
• Coordinate performance reviews and support underwriting committee development.
• Develop KPIs and tolerances to identify emerging risks and opportunities.
• Work with data, actuarial and pricing teams to design analytical tools and dashboards.
• Ensure data-driven decision-making in fluctuating market conditions.
• Support strategic initiatives impacting SBS and CF ambitions (Augmented/Algorithmic underwriting).
