A leading facilities management provider is seeking a Director of Talent and Development to oversee the UK's Talent and Development strategy. This role requires strong leadership skills, experience in managing talent teams, and a commitment to operational excellence. You will be responsible for developing learning strategies aligned with business growth, while ensuring a diverse and skilled workforce. Equans is looking for a Director of Talent and Development, responsible for delivery of the UK Talent and Development strategy for the UKBU.
This role can be based anywhere in the UK and aligned to a local office, with travel to other offices and sites required.
This is a full-time role. On offer is a competitive salary, company car or car allowance, bonus and benefits package.
As Director of Talent and Development, you will report to the UK Chief Human Resources Officer and will lead all aspects of the Talent & Development strategy whilst aligning with the UK HR strategy, HR compliance and governance and ensuring Operational Excellence underpins all delivery.
You will be responsible for ensuring that your team works effectively together with the Equans group, UK business, wider HR support, Bouygues group and provides key stakeholder management.
What will you deliver?
Development of the 3-5-year strategy by ensuring all learning opportunities underpin, with an ongoing plan for delivery and achievement against any agreed success criteria, including propositions for unconnected employees and supporting the diversity of the UK business.
Supporting the Equans purpose, values, and growth plans as a member of the UK HR Leadership Team.
Providing leadership support and direction to the Talent & Development teams, ensuring strategy and plans are in place to deliver the required outcomes for the business and support its growth ambitions.
Facilitating the UK talent boards across all divisions and feeding back to Group, where warranted including UKBU Excom succession planning & team development support
An appreciation of HR operations, providing simplified processes that enables a fulfilment of meeting their skills gaps and always ensuring a peer review by building an annual cycle of communication and development events for all.
A consideration of European Legislation, managing with transparency with regards to performance and talent whilst providing best practise with regards to Employment Law and providing a timetable of upskilling modules as and when required.
A confident approach to the performance cycle with leading edge thoughts on looking beyond the standard ritual offerings and providing a clear process of development for our leaders.
Development of a listening strategy that looks beyond the Equans Echo Survey results, providing HR colleagues with the tools and ensuring we are responsive to all our employees.
Focus on the Learning strategy with regards to career pathways, early careers, how we reverse the current age pyramid for the future, whilst aligning with Our Fundamentals and leaning into the skill sets of our older workers.
Working closely with the Head of Recruitment to engage the right populations at universities, colleges, and schools to create a diverse and agile future pipeline of skills, with a balance of engineering, advanced digital and AI capabilities, as well as enhancing internal opportunities with regards to a clear process for secondments.
Continuous engagement with the Divisional CEO's to ensure the Talent and Development teams target operating model is optimised, fits their individual business needs and delivers an outstanding service to its customers, e.g. a structure to support strategic future growth and/or evolution in operational delivery
Engagement with Equans/Bouygues Group colleagues from UK entity's view, on all global learning and development initiatives and programmes, representing the UK&I and supporting subsequent implementation and communication.
Collaborating with operational stakeholders to drive service improvement and enhance employee upskilling to deliver operational excellence, to build and boost the FM skills set.
Ownership of the Learning & Development budget, including managed service providers, ensuring spend is maintained within agreed limits and optimised to deliver the best service to customers, as well as considering how training programmes could increase revenue by successfully selling our products to external markets.
Creating the Learning & Development strategy with regards to the cultural transformation of the business by having a continuous cycle with regards to accreditations that enhance our employee brand, including award nominations externally.
Enabling our operational partners with access to accurate data through MyLearn and have transparent access to development opportunities whether statutory, essentials training, health & safety, D, E & I or leadership.
Leading the development of the Equans management upskilling programme through the Academies, developing all managers to become people managers, and expanding the talent pipeline.
Able to integrate across divisions a learning culture, with exposure to technology and cultivating a climate of responsibility for own development.
A leading contributor to the CSR agenda.
Works in partnership with the Head of HRIS, ensuring development modules meet the needs of the learner, business, and Group.
Applies a Simplifying for You approach to all Talent & Development activities, to meet and enable Operational Excellence, Productivity and Servant Leadership within our operational teams.

Proven history of simplifying delivery.
A strong appreciation of technical, health & safety, quality, and compliance.
Previous integration experience advantageous.
The ability to influence and coach effectively across all levels and stakeholders, internally and externally.
A collaborator, who sets an example for others to follow.
Action oriented, delivery focused and ability to work in an international matrix organisation.
Experience in contributing to new system implementation projects.
A passion for compliance and quality, in turn creating positive impact on learning environments.
