Salary: £119,051 with potential to rise to £140,060 over 3 years

NHS Supply Chain currently has an opportunity for a Director of Products & Platforms to join our Data and Technology leadership team during an exciting period of transformation, working to make it easier for the NHS to put patients first and to deliver against our strategic objectives.

We are currently finalising plans for a Supply Chain and IT Modernisation Programme to deliver the end to end modernisation of our logistics network and the replacement of our legacy IT estate with a modern ERP solution. This complex multi-year programme will simplify and transform all aspects of the business and is a key enabler for the delivery of the company vision and delivery of £1Billion of savings back into frontline NHS Services.

NHS Supply Chain IT is also currently transitioning to a Service Integration And Management (SIAM) model – OneIT – led by an internal team with four different Service Providers delivering the end to end suite of services across Service Integration and Helpdesk, Modern Workplace services, Infrastructure and Networks, Application Development, Support and Management and Cyber Security.

This is a critical time for the business as we embark on a major transformation programme whilst embedding a step-change in the approach to IT delivery, – reporting to the Data and Technology Executive Director, we are seeking a strategic and experienced Director of Products & Platforms who will:

• Hold day to day responsibility for the performance of the Application Development, Support and Management and Infrastructure and Networks Service Providers.
• Be the Technology Lead for the Supply Chain and IT Modernisation programme with accountability for the technical design and delivery of the ERP solution working with business stakeholders and our IT Service Providers.
• Lead the Application Domain teams – delivering the design and execution of application modernisation across all areas of the business (Digital, Operations, Corporate Apps and Infrastructure and Data & Analytics) in line with the overarching technology strategy.
• Champion the adoption of standard SaaS solutions, the elimination of technical debt and lead the transition into product-based delivery and as a result maximise the return on investment in SaaS solutions working with business stakeholders and vendors.
• Ensure all existing applications and production systems are supported and maintained in line with policies and standards.
• Work as part of the wider Data and Technology Leadership team to implement and maintain clear and consistent architecture, security and design standards and ensure their ongoing adoption.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders and act as a Data and Technology business partner to them, building high levels of professional credibility and mutual trust.
• Support the development and communication of the Data and Technology strategy and business plan. Explain the relationship to the broader organisation's mission, vision, and values; motivate people to commit to these.

What skills will help you thrive in this role?

• Previous experience of leading the IT design and deployment of major transformational ERP programmes within a complex organisation.
• Significant experience of technical delivery and leadership experience in similar large scale supply chain, B2B Wholesale, E-Retail or operational environment.
• Experienced in delivering high performance via Application Development, Support and Management outsourced providers.
• Experience of working in a SIAM delivery model and leading matrix IT teams.
• Experience of designing, building, testing and deploying technology solutions whilst ensuring adherence to robust programme methodologies
• Experience of embedding change to create an environment that values adaptability and embraces change as an opportunity for growth
• Demonstrable experience of leading teams with purpose through a culture of growth, inclusion and empowered people development across diverse teams
• Experience of implementing and leading IT governance forums (e.g. a Technical Design Authority) at both enterprise and programme level.
• Strong financial acumen and equivalent vendor/service provider management skills
• Experience of sitting on the steering boards of major programmes and Executive/Board level stakeholder management.
• An appreciation of and experience in the broader disciplines (change/people/process) of transformation and the ability to instil a culture that considers all aspects, not just technology, from the outset.
