The Independent Healthcare Providers Network (IHPN) is the membership network for independent healthcare providers. Our members deliver a diverse range of services to NHS and private patients including acute care, primary care, community care, clinical home healthcare, diagnostics, and mental health across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
Our vision is for a thriving independent healthcare sector delivering excellent care to NHS and private patients. IHPN’s work programme covers topics such as supporting providers to achieve net zero; contributing to NHS services; promoting privately-funded services; developing medical governance oversight frameworks; and more.
We have over 100 member organizations, from large multinationals to small specialist providers, engaging thousands of individuals annually through groups, forums, events, and newsletters. We also run a successful Commercial Associate programme with over 30 corporate partners. In 2024, we were named ‘Association of the Year’ at the Association Excellence Awards. The Director of Policy is a key role reporting directly to the Chief Executive. The postholder will lead policy development and implementation, liaising with members and external stakeholders to ensure policies reflect member views and influence policy making effectively. The role requires an in-depth understanding of UK health policy, especially as it pertains to private healthcare, with ongoing updates. The postholder will also provide leadership across the sector and organization, operating at Board and CEO levels.
