Job summary

Gateshead Council is seeking an inspiring Senior Leader to transform Planning & Transport services, overseeing strategic planning, infrastructure investment and climate responsibilities, and working with elected Members and partners to deliver sustainable growth for Gateshead.

You will lead a wide portfolio, drive capital projects, manage budgets and teams, and report to Members and committees, while championing Thrive agenda and a culture of collaboration, integrity and innovation.

Qualifications

• Extensive senior-level experience within planning, transport, environmental services or related disciplines.
• Successful track record of leading transformation, organisational change and service improvement.
• Experience working with elected Members, political leadership and senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the strategic direction of the Council and Economy, Innovation & Growth Group, aligning with the Thrive agenda.
• Lead development and delivery of statutory and non-statutory planning, transport and climate services across the borough.
• Provide senior leadership for the Local Plan and policy frameworks, ensuring up-to-date strategies.
