Job summary

Christ Church Brixton Road is seeking an experienced Director of Operations to lead the smooth running and coordination of all church operations, including HR, facilities, finance and fundraising. The role requires collaboration with senior leaders and the PCC to realise the church's vision and strategic priorities.

While Spanish is not required, the role would benefit from cross-congregation communication.

Qualifications

• Experience as an Operations Director or Project Manager leading church operations
• Ability to oversee finance and fundraising operations and coordinate with senior leaders and the PCC
• Strategic role requiring collaboration with incumbent and leadership team
• Spanish language ability is not required but would help across congregations

Responsibilities

• Lead the smooth running and coordination of church operations
• Oversee HR functions and policy/practice across parishes, including some parish staff
• Oversee facilities management for St Matthew’s and Christ Church, including procurement and leases
• Support Finance Committee and Treasurer in finance planning and fundraising development
• Ensure compliance through procedures and policies in line with statutory requirements

Job description

This is an exciting time to join Christ Church Brixton Road, as our Director of Operations. This is a key role in our leadership team in support of our work to realise our vision at Christ Church Brixton Road and supporting St Matthew’s at Elephant and Castle.

The role is funded until the end of June 2028 through a strategic project which is designed to not only enable church growth, directly support a bilingual parish approach (English-Spanish) where we are able to empower the Latino population and make them feel an integral part of the Church of England.

We are looking for an experienced Operations Director or Project Manager who can competently lead the smooth running and coordination of all Church operations, including the finance and fundraising operations. There is also a strategiccomponentto the role, requiring the individual to work with the incumbent, other seniorleadersand the PCC.

Some key responsibilities of the role would include:

• Manage and develop the parishes’ HR functions ensuring that policy and practice support the vision of the church and reflect best practice, as well as managing some parish staff members.
• Oversight for managing the facilities at both St Matthew’s and Christ Church in line with strategic priorities and Health and Safety legislation. This will include overseeing procurement and lease/rental of facilities
• Membership of Finance Committeeand working with the Treasurer to ensure the finance function and strategic development of planning and fundraising are all efficient and effective.
• Leading on compliance ensuring implementation of procedures and policies in line with statutoryrequirements

Whilst the ability to speak Spanish is not a requirement, it would help in working across our different congregations.
