Operations Director

Staffordshire

Circa £100,000 + Bonus + Car Allowance + Comprehensive Benefits

A leading, complex manufacturing business in Staffordshire is looking to appoint an Operations Director to help lead the next phase of growth and transformation. With a strong international customer base, the business is investing in systems, people, and processes to ensure long-term resilience and competitiveness.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Operations Director will take full ownership of day-to-day manufacturing performance and play a key role in modernising operations. The remit includes continuous improvement, planning, systems integration, and the development of a high-performing operational team.

Key Priorities:

  • Lead cultural and process change programmes across manufacturing and related functions
  • Ensure the operation is fully prepared for future growth, including developing and strengthening the middle management layer
  • Embed continuous improvement practices that deliver measurable results
  • Take ownership of planning and SIOP processes to improve efficiency and customer service
  • Support the successful integration of a new ERP system across operational functions
  • Maintain control over budgets and performance targets with a clear view of operational KPIs

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Senior operational leadership experience within complex, multi-step manufacturing environments
  • A strong track record of delivering change and driving performance improvements
  • Hands-on experience with CI, lean methodologies, and structured planning processes (e.g. SIOP, MRP/ERP)
  • Sound financial understanding and the ability to manage budgets and resources effectively
  • A practical, people-focused leadership style with the ability to build and develop teams at all levels
