Job summary

Havant & South Downs College seeks a strategic Director of MIS, Funding & Data to set the direction for management information, data governance and statutory reporting. You will connect data architecture with funding rules and regulatory obligations to drive curriculum planning, financial sustainability and learner outcomes.

You will lead risk-aware data services, develop dashboards and forecasting, and oversee ILR compliance, examinations data and student-record systems.

Qualifications

• Significant leadership experience in MIS/data within FE or similarly regulated education.
• Proven experience delivering accurate ILR and complex statutory data returns.
• Deep knowledge of DfE/ESFA funding rules, ILR requirements and compliance frameworks.
• Experience of funding audits/inspections and maintaining robust evidence trails.
• Experience developing MI, dashboards, forecasting or scenario planning for senior decision-makers.
• Strong knowledge of FE student-record systems and data architecture (e.g., ProSolution).
• Excellent communication and ability to explain complex topics to non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Set and deliver the college's data and MIS strategy, aligned with strategic priorities.
• Ensure data governance, ownership, standards and controls across the organisation.
• Be accountable for accurate, timely statutory returns including ILR and related reporting.
• Safeguard and optimise income through funding controls, reconciliation and data risk management.
• Lead development of MI, dashboards and forecasting to support executives and governors.
• Collaborate with curriculum and finance to support data-informed planning and performance.
• Oversee data-quality framework and inspection readiness for Ofsted, audits and external scrutiny.
• Own College student-record and MIS platforms, ensuring security, resilience and change control.
• Oversee examinations data services and related operational processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Lead and develop MIS, data, analytical and examinations teams with a culture of service excellence.
• Contribute to College Leadership Team with concise assurance on performance and risk.
