Job Description:

The Director of Medical Engagement and Scientific Congress Lead is responsible for leading the implementation of congress and external engagement strategies for the Solid Tumor US Medical Affairs team at Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine Oncology. This includes planning and executing medical conference strategies by collaborating with internal stakeholders (US Medical Affairs, Global Medical Affairs, Commercial) and reporting to the Head of Clinical Operations and Program Management. The role requires a strategic, self-driven leader with strong communication, time management, and conflict resolution skills to ensure compliance and timely delivery of congress materials. Vendor oversight and management are also key responsibilities, along with supporting external engagement strategies through collaboration with key institution leads to identify partnership opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Strategic Planning and Execution: Establish and lead medical engagement and congress strategies for Solid Tumor Medical Affairs, coordinating with stakeholders and managing budgets.
  2. Regional Conference Strategy: Develop and implement strategies to maximize engagement with opinion leaders at various conferences.
  3. Partnerships: Collaborate with internal teams and global partners to align on conference content, design, and logistics.
  4. Cross-functional Partnership: Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and healthcare policies while driving innovation and sharing best practices.
  5. Flawless Implementation: Continuously improve congress content and establish relationships with congress associations for optimal booth placement and engagement.
  6. Executive Engagements: Plan and execute outreach with key institutions, partnering with field medical teams and account managers.
  7. Leadership: Prepare senior leadership for conferences and provide onsite support.
  8. Agency Management: Manage external vendors to align content with strategic goals.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with 8+ years of pharmaceutical experience.
  • Strong project management, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Experience in congress strategy and vendor management preferred.
  • Leadership skills to set direction and resolve issues.
  • Ability to navigate a matrixed environment and travel up to 25% domestically.
  • Oncology (Solid Tumor) knowledge and experience are desirable.

The position offers a competitive, performance-based compensation program, including an annual bonus. The base pay range is $160,000 - $276,000.
