Teaching Personnel’s PWR team is working in partnership with a high-achieving all-through school in Bexley to appoint a Director of Learning – English. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity to lead and shape the English curriculum across the secondary phase.

Location: Bexley, London
Start Date: September 2025 (or sooner if available)
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £61,707 - £70,873 (Outer London Leadership) + Performance and Loyalty Bonus + Wellbeing Cash Plan + Pension Scheme (TPS) + Additional Trust Benefits

About the Role:

As Director of Learning – English, you will be responsible for strategic leadership of the English department, driving standards of teaching and learning, and ensuring consistency and excellence across all key stages. This is a pivotal role in a forward-thinking school that prides itself on its inclusive, aspirational ethos.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage the English department across the primary and secondary phases

Develop and deliver a high-quality, cohesive English curriculum

Support and mentor teaching staff, driving continual improvement

Monitor progress and implement intervention strategies to raise attainment

Contribute to whole-school strategy as part of the extended leadership team

What We’re Looking For:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Proven success teaching English at KS3, KS4, and ideally KS5
Experience in middle or senior leadership
A track record of raising student outcomes
Vision, drive, and the ability to inspire both staff and students
