About The Role:

We are working with an innovative and internationally renowned architecture and interior design studio based in London, who are seeking an accomplished and confident Director of Interior Design to spearhead their interiors department.

In this pivotal role, you will oversee high-profile projects from concept through to completion, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional interiors across a range of sectors. You will be responsible for building and shaping your own team, developing the studio’s interior design offering on an international scale.

Working closely with the senior management team, you’ll be supported in hiring top talent, expanding the interiors portfolio, and playing a strategic role in the future direction of the business. This is a rare opportunity to make the role your own and become a key member of a dynamic leadership team within a practice that already commands a highly respected reputation globally.

Our client is known for their large-scale, groundbreaking projects and collaborative culture. They offer a host of benefits, including hybrid/flexible working, and operate from a beautiful, open-plan studio in a vibrant and easily accessible part of London.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and lead the interiors team from the ground up
  • Develop and drive the studio’s interior design vision across a variety of sectors, ensuring design excellence from concept through to delivery
  • Act as the key client-facing lead on interiors, managing relationships and ensuring the highest level of service
  • Take ownership of project delivery, design direction, team resourcing, and commercial performance of the interiors portfolio
  • Collaborate closely with architects, consultants, and external partners to deliver integrated, thoughtful design outcomes
  • Actively contribute to business development - identifying opportunities, pitching for new work, and helping grow the interiors pipeline
  • Represent interiors at a senior level across the business, contributing to strategy and studio culture

Key Skills/Requirements:

  • Minimum 10+ years’ experience in interior design, ideally within a respected design-led practice
  • A portfolio of standout projects across high-end residential, hospitality, and commercial sectors
  • Proven experience leading interior teams and complex projects from inception to completion
  • Confident in business development, with a strong network and the ability to attract new clients
  • Skilled communicator with experience presenting to clients and leading internal teams
  • Deep knowledge of concept, materials, FF&E, detailing, and construction processes
  • Fluency in design tools including AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite
