Job description

Salary £103,647 to £123,760 per annum (pro-rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

We are seeking to recruit a new director to lead our Governance and Assurance department. This is a key role with a broad and exciting remit, including leadership over key functions such as Risk Management, Governance, Operational Resilience (Business Continuity and Incident Response), Information Security and Compliance, Insurance Services, and our Academic Quality Assurance provision.

Reporting directly to the newly appointed Chief Governance and Risk Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the departments offer effective and efficient support services to the University.

The Director of Governance and Assurance will play a key role in establishing processes that support effective university governance, including ensuring that services and inputs to key governance committees—such as the University Executive Board, Audit and Risk Committee, and Council—are functioning effectively and efficiently.

You should have experience in developing and delivering a wide range of governance and risk management services within a large Higher Education institution, with a passion for driving effective and efficient processes. The role also requires the ability to develop strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels and to lead diverse governance functions.
