Job summary

Sweco is seeking a Technical Director to lead the Fire Engineering team within Building Standards in Manchester. The role offers flexible hybrid working and requires deep expertise in fire safety engineering, team leadership, and delivery of projects from design through to construction and completion.

The successful candidate will sit within a technical excellence group, focusing on delivery quality and client liaison across UK and international projects.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in fire safety engineering and fire engineered solutions.
• Strong leadership and line management experience.
• Ability to deliver across design to construction and completion.

Responsibilities

• Develop Fire Safety Strategies during Design and Construction stages.
• Prepare technical engineering analyses using relevant guidance and methods.
• Manage a team of Fire Engineers.
• Carry out site visits as required.
• Attend internal and external meetings.
• Prepare fee proposals.
• Support the team in developing technical knowledge.
• Oversee and manage projects from inception to completion.
• Liaise with clients daily.
• Review and authorise work by others.
