James’ Place is a charity on a critical mission to save the lives of men in suicidal crisis. With centres located in London, Liverpool, Newcastle and further expansion plans across the UK, we are committed to offering men facing crises, such as relationship breakdowns, financial problems, or bereavement, brief, intensive therapeutic interventions. To date, we have treated over 3,000 men, providing proven clinical services that significantly reduce psychological distress. As we expand our reach and improve service delivery, we seek an exceptional Director of Finance and Resources to help us manage our expanding services and ensure the long-term sustainability and efficiency of the organisation.
This pivotal role sits at the heart of our charity, leading the Finance, HR, and Operations functions. You will work closely with our CEO to oversee the charity’s financial management, HR practices, and operational delivery, ensuring that we continue to deliver on our mission in the most effective and efficient way possible. As we scale, you will play an essential role in shaping the charity’s strategic direction and ensuring the smooth running of all operational aspects.
You will oversee all financial planning and management, ensuring we meet our budgetary targets and maintain robust financial controls. You will also lead the HR function, developing policies and strategies that help to recruit, retain, and develop a talented, diverse workforce. You will oversee operational management, ensuring that all teams are aligned with the charity’s mission and that operational processes are streamlined and effective. In addition, you will manage relationships with external partners and advisors, ensuring we make the most of our resources while complying with charity regulations.
We seek a financially qualified senior leader or qualified by experience who brings substantial senior leadership experience in financial management, HR, and operations, ideally within the charity or non-profit sectors. You will have a track record of leading cross-functional teams and driving operational excellence. Your ability to think strategically, coupled with excellent communication skills, will be key to ensuring that the charity can continue to deliver high-quality services while maintaining financial stability. As part of the core leadership team, you will also have the ability to deputise for the CEO when necessary.
