Job Description:

Director of Finance and Corporate Services

Permanent

Edinburgh or Glasgow

Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS) is at the forefront of enhancing health and social care across Scotland. Our diverse responsibilities include sharing cutting-edge best practices, offering improvement support, providing rigorous external quality assurance, and empowering people to influence the design and delivery of health and social care services.

This is a pivotal moment to join HIS. With changes in the Executive Team and expanding responsibilities, you have a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on a national scale.

As the Director, you will lead with strength, visibility, and engagement across Finance, Procurement, Corporate Governance, Communications, and Planning/Performance Management functions, ensuring the highest professional standards. Your commitment to supporting and motivating people will help build high-performing teams.

In your core financial accountability role, you will support the Chief Executive as the Accountable Officer, ensuring a robust financial strategy that aligns with the organisation’s strategic objectives for the short, medium, and long term.

You will oversee effective corporate governance, support the Chair and Board, and manage the risk management system. Additionally, you will lead the development and coordination of planning and performance management and provide executive-level leadership for communications.

With a degree or equivalent qualification, you must be a fully qualified Accountant with CCAB membership and significant post-qualification experience.

You will balance day-to-day delivery of the directorate’s objectives with shaping the future strategy of HIS. Your personal resilience will be crucial in handling the role's demands and your commercial acumen and commitment to innovation will be critical to ensuring the organisation is fit for the future.

A natural team player, you will collaborate with the Executive Team to drive improvements in health and social care. You will also build alliances with stakeholders such as NHS Directors of Finance and Planning, and senior staff within the Scottish Government.

If you are interested in a discussion about the role please contact Robbie Pearson, Chief Executive, Healthcare Improvement Scotland via [emailprotected]
