Job Opportunity: Director of Finance

Following a challenging period for the sector, we are seeking to appoint a strategic individual to join us as Director of Finance. In this key role, you will work closely with the Chief Financial and Operating Officer (CFOO) to create and implement comprehensive financial strategies that resonate with our University's mission and goals. This is a unique opportunity to shape the financial operations of our institution, ensuring its sustainability and success.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Strategically reshape and lead the Finance Department, including Procurement, Transaction Services, Accounting, and Planning & Performance.
  2. Lead the financial planning process and provide high-quality financial management information.
  3. Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the University's mission and goals.
  4. Monitor and analyse financial performance, providing insights to the CFOO.
  5. Implement financial controls and risk management practices to safeguard assets.
  6. Provide strategic financial advice on initiatives, projects, and investments.
  7. Foster a high-performance culture within the Finance Department, driving continuous improvement.
The Ideal Candidate:
  • A professionally qualified accountant, member of a CCAB body.
  • Proven experience in financial leadership within a complex organization, preferably in higher education.
  • Experience in using finance to deliver cultural change and performance improvement.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills, with the ability to align financial strategies with organizational goals.
  • Expertise in financial management, risk assessment, and controls.
  • A leader who fosters collaboration, integrity, and high performance.
