Drive economic strategy, lead funding bids and shape socio-economic impact at a national scale

Are you a strategic economist with a track record in public investment, policy, and funding? A leading planning and development consultancy is seeking a Director of Economics to lead their growing economics team from their Manchester office. This is a senior opportunity to direct high-impact projects, develop a national client base, and lead a dynamic team working across housing, regeneration, infrastructure and skills sectors.

The RoleAs Director of Economics, you'll lead the delivery of economic impact assessments, socio-economic evidence, and funding strategies for both public and private sector clients. You'll bring expertise in developing business cases under the HM Treasury Five Case Model and help secure government investment into major development and infrastructure schemes. A key part of this role will involve identifying opportunities, winning work, and shaping the growth of the economics offering within the business.

You'll work closely with planning, strategy and development colleagues, providing leadership on cross-disciplinary projects, while mentoring junior staff and strengthening relationships with government, local authorities, and development partners.
