ABOUT ZENOBE

Our goal is to make clean power accessible, to accelerate the shift to zero carbon power and transport.

We’re building and operating the world’s most sophisticated battery systems to enable the uptake of more renewable power and accelerating fleet electrification, de-risking the transition to zero-emission transport at scale. We’ve been consistently innovative since we were founded in 2017, achieving major industry firsts and using proprietary software and data analysis to optimise operational performance for our customers. At the end of their life, we repurpose electric vehicle batteries to provide clean power at depots, on construction sites and film sets.

Today we have 730 MW of grid scale battery storage operational and under construction and are the largest owner and operator of EV buses in the UK, Australia and New Zealand, supporting over 1,000 electric vehicles worldwide. In our first five years we have raised nearly £1.8 billion in funding and have expanded into other markets such as the US. Our rapidly growing company is looking for highly talented and motivated people to join us.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Due to the ongoing success and growth of the business, we have an excellent opportunity for a Director of Delivery – EV Charging Infrastructure to join our team. This person will be accountable for leading the delivery of EV charging infrastructure projects, ensuring reliable, on-time, and on-budget execution while developing best-in-class processes and systems across project management, HSE, procurement, and leadership. This role will oversee established markets (UK, Australia, US and Belgium) and provide global strategic leadership to support business scaling in all new EV markets. The Director of Delivery will work in close collaboration with the wider business to ensure seamless, end-to-end project execution, oversee the construction process of all projects (HV and LV), and lead the engineering design phase for our installations and assets across fleet and public charging infrastructure. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced project leader to play a key management role within the organisation, working closely with the COO to drive the successful delivery of major EV charging infrastructure projects that will accelerate the energy transition.

A TASTE OF THE DAY TO DAY

  • Work as part of the senior management team, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer.
  • Effectively manage, motivate, and develop a growing team of Project Managers, Construction Managers, and Engineers across the UK, US, Australia, and Belgium.
  • Provide strategic leadership for business expansion into new EV markets, ensuring knowledge transfer, process optimisation, regional delivery strategies, and efficient delivery structures.
  • Develop and implement a culture, processes, and policies that define best practices in EV charging infrastructure project delivery, ensuring efficiency and scalability.
  • Collaborate with Procurement, Asset Management, Product, Finance, and Business Development teams to support business growth and seamless project execution.
  • Set functional goals and strategies, including 100-day plans, operating models, and long-term growth strategies for global EV project delivery.
  • Accountable for all EV project delivery reporting to company board level.
  • Take overall responsibility for the transition from business development to operations through successful, reliable project execution.
  • Ensure quality assurance and continuous improvement in project delivery.
  • Ensure application of robust contractor selection and onboarding processes.
  • Manage post-project reviews to integrate lessons learned into future project planning and execution.
  • Maintain full accountability for project budgets, change, schedule, and resource.
  • Identify, mitigate, and communicate risks proactively to executives.
  • Develop and enforce adherence to processes, systems, policies, and reporting frameworks.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project completion.
  • Manage clear handovers between sales, delivery, and operations teams to maintain efficiency and accountability.

Health and Safety

  • Actively contribute to Zenobe's commitment to health and safety, wellbeing and sustainability by integrating these principles into daily responsibilities, ensuring a safe and supportive work environment, promoting both the physical and mental health of self and colleagues, and adopting sustainable and energy-efficient practices to minimize environmental impact. By doing so, each employee at Zenobe plays a vital role in fostering a culture that prioritises overall safety, holistic wellbeing, and environmental sustainability in our business operations.

  • Expertise in optimising and improving project delivery processes in construction or a similar project-based environment.
  • Strong experience leading multi-disciplinary and international teams across various regions.
  • Commercial acumen with strong procurement, negotiation, and supplier management skills.

  • Highly pragmatic, proactive, and solution-driven approach.
  • Strong knowledge of and experience in setting up and managing HSE processes.

Desirable but Non-Essential Skills:

  • Proven track record in delivering large-scale, grid-connected electrical projects.
