Job description

Director of Compensation & Benefits
Position Overview

We are seeking a Director of Compensation & Benefits to join our business.

In this role, you will lead the design and delivery of a global reward strategy that supports growth, performance and retention. Combining strategic leadership with hands-on execution, you will build scalable compensation, benefits and equity frameworks; provide trusted advice to senior leaders; and ensure reward investment is competitive, equitable, compliant and aligned with business priorities.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join an international, high-growth technology business and make a measurable impact.

Salary & Benefits

We will offer a competitive base salary for this role; please tell us on the application form the base salary that you are seeking. There is an expectation that an annual bonus will be payable in addition, subject to meeting company and individual objectives.

Hybrid working

We recognise the benefits that remote and flexible working brings.

We operate a hybrid working policy that allows our employees to balance time in the office and time from home. Each team within our organisation can decide how to implement this policy.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement a global reward strategy aligned to business growth and the attraction and retention of top technology talent across the United Kingdom, Ireland, the United States of America and South Africa.

  • Develop clear reward principles, governance and decision rights across fixed pay, variable pay, equity and benefits.

  • Advise the CHRO, Executive team and Remuneration Committee on reward strategy, executive remuneration, market positioning and emerging risks.

  • Translate complex reward topics into clear, commercially focused recommendations supported by robust data.

  • Own global job architecture, salary structures, pay ranges and market positioning, ensuring they remain scalable and relevant across geographies and talent segments.

  • Lead annual and ad-hoc pay benchmarking using reputable market surveys, specialist technology data and peer comparisons.

  • Lead the end-to-end annual pay review and bonus cycle, including budgets, modelling, governance, calibration, systems requirements, manager guidance and employee communications.

  • Design, implement and govern annual bonus and variable pay arrangements that align individual, team and company performance with the business plan and strategic objectives.

  • Design and implement a flexible benefits proposition and supporting platform that is relevant, inclusive, cost-effective and capable of scaling globally.

  • Lead the ongoing review and harmonisation of benefits across countries and acquired businesses, balancing global consistency with local market practice and regulation.

What Success Looks Like
  • A clearly articulated global reward strategy is agreed and embedded, with effective governance and executive sponsorship.

  • Flexible benefits are implemented successfully, with strong employee adoption, reliable service and demonstrable value.

  • Equity plans are administered accurately, compliantly and on time, with improved participant understanding.

  • Annual pay and bonus reviews are delivered to timetable and budget, supported by high-quality data and decision-making.

  • Pay structures and benchmarking improve market competitiveness, internal equity and critical-skill retention.

  • Provider performance, costs and risks are actively managed through transparent service and commercial measures.

  • Reward reporting provides timely insight to the Executive team and Board.

Qualifications & Experience

The right candidate for this role will have:

  • Significant senior compensation and benefits leadership experience in an international, fast-paced organisation; technology, SaaS or digital services experience is strongly preferred.

  • Successful design and implementation of a global or multi-country reward strategy.

  • Demonstrable experience implementing flexible benefits and managing a benefits platform.

  • Proven ownership of complex annual pay review, bonus and variable pay cycles, including plan design, financial modelling, accruals, governance, performance calibration, reporting and senior stakeholder engagement.

  • Experience designing and managing company, functional and individual performance incentives, with the ability to assess payout mechanics, affordability, behavioural impact and alignment to business outcomes.

  • Strong expertise in pay benchmarking, job evaluation, salary structures, executive remuneration and reward analytics.

  • Experience managing multiple benefits providers and advisers across jurisdictions, with evidence of effective commercial and service governance.

  • Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions or integrations and creating scalable reward frameworks in a changing environment.
