Job summary

Brown University's Office of the Dean of the Faculty seeks a Director of Communications to lead strategic messaging across internal and external audiences, guiding best practices for 35 communications staff across units. The role partners with the Dean and Senior VP for Communications to develop announcements, presentations, and digital content that advance university priorities.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 8 years of professional communications experience.
• Master’s degree or bachelor + equivalent experience.
• Experience in higher education governance preferred.
• Proven ability to lead complex communications strategies.
• Excellent writing/editing using MLA and AP styles.
• Proficiency with MS Office and Google Apps.
• Ability to analyze data and generate reports.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of strategic communications across the Dean’s Office.
• Manage internal and external messaging for 60+ units.
• Supervise 1 or more direct reports and a staff of 35.
• Plan events and leadership programs aligned with DOF goals.
