POSITION SUMMARY:

This position requires a proven sales leader with the ability to drive loan and deposit growth in current and new markets. Responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and management of the sales, customer service and operation of the commercial banking department. Will develop commercial banking strategies and lending officers to meet loan and deposit targets while maintaining our service quality. Foster growth and excellence-oriented atmosphere in support of bank-wide initiatives while maintaining bank’s customer service standards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. In conformance with established policies and procedures, oversee the strategic direction and management of the sales, customer service and operation of the commercial banking department. Develop commercial banking strategies including, but not limited to, leading lending officers to reach growth targets and providing exceptional customer service.
  2. Work with Chief Credit Officer to ensure smooth and timely transition of credit requests from loan request through loan closing.
  3. Actively work with other members of executive management to provide leadership, management and vision in support of the Bank’s strategic plan through operational policies, procedures, processes and products to effectively grow the organization and ensure financial strength and operating efficiency.
  4. Foster growth and excellence-oriented atmosphere in support of bank-wide initiatives while maintaining bank’s customer service standards.
  5. Provide direction to the lending team on building long-term, multi-product relationships to meet customer needs.
  6. Monitor and analyze the financial performance of the commercial banking business and take steps to improve profitability and efficiency.
  7. A deep understanding of the financial services industry, commercial lending, and related regulatory requirements.
  8. Manage comprehensive needs-based strategy and incentive compensation plan; institutionalize sales process and development for front line team to deliver against financial goals.
  9. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.
  10. Must comply with all company policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Must complete the assigned online training courses and achieve a passing score by due date.

About You

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Minimum 10 years management level banking industry experience required.
  2. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  3. Master’s Degree or Graduate of Banking School preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITY:

Work involves extensive personal contact with members of executive management, community leaders, business leaders, and internal managers. Motivating is key to success for incumbents in this position. External contacts are vital, not only for the success of the position, but the success of the company overall.

  1. Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, with others in the Bank to perform effective reviews and to report the results.
  2. Ability to effectively write business correspondence and effectively present information to executive management, public groups and/or boards of directors.
  3. Strong organizational, customer service, sales management, communication and decision-making skills.
  4. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  5. Analytical ability oriented toward feasibility and cost considerations.
  6. Highly self-motivated and directed.
  7. Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  8. Monitor, analyze and apply compliance rules, regulations and procedures.
  9. Thorough knowledge of various office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer, Outlook and nCino.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise. Must be capable of up to 25% travel (e.g. 1 week or 5 days/month) by automobile (as driver and passenger), commercial airlines, rental vehicles and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities. Travel will be necessary to conduct the duties of this job, and the employee must have the ability to drive and have proper licensing.

Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation.

Specific lifting abilities required by this job include lifting up to 10 lbs.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation/inspection of machines and/or using measurement devices at distances close to the eyes.
