The Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) champions the power of planning in creating prosperous places and vibrant communities. We represent over 27,000 members worldwide, supporting them throughout their careers. We shape planning policy, raise professional standards and are the only body in the UK to confer Chartered status to planners, the highest professional qualification.
We are looking for a Director of Careers and Education to lead the strategic direction and oversee the delivery of the RTPI careers, education, professional development and Planning Aid England services. Acting as professional standards champion and advisor for the RTPI, you will play a key role in developing the RTPI as an internationally recognised membership body that strives to achieve excellence in its skills and capability across the world. You will lead the development of career pathways and initiatives to promote planning as a career, drive the delivery of initiatives such as apprenticeships and bursaries and oversee the Planning Aid England service.
A chartered town planner, you will have experience in a senior leadership role, an in depth understanding of Higher Education provision and the application of this, nationally and internationally to professional planning education and lifelong learning. With experience of working with diverse and complex stakeholders with a proven track record for success, you will understand how effective career promotion can deliver benefits for the future pipeline of the profession and will have proven ability to lead, manage and motivate others.
