Job overview

As part of a re-organisation of our estates and facilities services we are appointing to a new role of Director of Capital, Estates & Facilities. You will provide strategic and operational leadership to our capital, estates and facilities teams and play a key visible role within the trust's senior management team to drive our ambitions forward. The role is responsible for delivering safe, responsive, and cost-effective estates and facilities services for the Trust, with clear focus on quality and customer service.

A key component of the role will be to provide comprehensive and integrated estate resource planning for the Trust to fully exploit the potential of the Trusts estate operational resources. You will manage and be accountable for the efficient and effective provision of comprehensive client centred services for estate planning, management and facility support activities. You will also manage and deliver improvement and value for money for contracted and in-house services including hard FM and soft FM such as catering, portering and cleaning.

Main duties of the job

Contribute to the Trust's strategic planning and redevelopment, with particular responsibility for the physical environment and the physical resources, through preparation, revision, and implementation of the Trust's estate strategy.

Procurement and the efficient management of all works and services related to the operation, maintenance, and capital for the operational aspects of the estate and development of the estate.

Development of programmes to modernise and re-design functions and services which measurably improve efficiency and/or effectiveness.

To advise in the formulation of, and be responsible for, the department's annual budget and capital investments, to ensure that all operations and capital planning activities are provided at optimum cost effectiveness.

Accountable for all financial, contract, business, and performance aspects of CEF, managing and minimizing financial and performance risk and creating business opportunities. Delivery of Cost Improvement Programmes as required.

Manage a wide range of services, within approved parameters of cost and service level, at all times seeking best value on a 24x7 basis.

Represent the Trust on operational estate and estate related matters in dealings with Local and National Authorities and other external organisations.

Develop a benchmarking methodology for comparison against peers including PLACE, Lord Carter national efficiency initiatives and the Shelford and London peer group trusts.
