Job Description:

A leading consultancy specialising in delivering sustainability & ESG programmes into sectors like Defence, Nuclear, Public Sector, IT, and Infrastructure seeks a Business Development Director to join its growing team.

The role involves being a Subject Matter Expert in climate change and sustainability, leading client projects, supervising consultants, and identifying new business opportunities to support growth.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Identifying and converting new business opportunities
  • Account management for large clients and deliverables
  • Developing and delivering business growth strategies
  • Bid writing and responding to tenders
  • Engaging with clients, potential clients, and partners
  • Promoting the business via social media (e.g., LinkedIn)
  • Developing and presenting case studies and lessons learned

Candidate Requirements:

  • Previous consultancy experience
  • Experience with the Ministry of Defence, Nuclear, Public Sector, IT, or Infrastructure projects
  • Knowledge of Climate Change, Sustainability, Social Value, Net Zero, Circular Economy, and related fields
  • Experience managing complex projects and portfolios
  • Understanding of classified information security
  • Leadership in programme assurance and major change management
  • Risk and opportunity management skills
  • Experience in bid management and technical assurance
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams
  • Security Clearance (or willingness to obtain)

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in the Defence industry
  • Security Clearance
  • Full Member of APM (desirable)
  • APM Practitioner (desirable)
  • PMP Certification (desirable)
  • PRINCE2 Practitioner (desirable)
  • Management of Projects (MoP) Practitioner (desirable)
