Reporting to the Senior Vice President for the region, this role plays a critical part in supporting the development and execution of Adeia’s licensing initiatives, particularly in driving value from its European and Australian media patent assets.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Cross-functional Support: Assist in delivering IP licensing activities across Europe and Australia, contributing to IP strategy, patent assertion, and portfolio development in coordination with internal teams.
  2. Evidence Development: Support infringement analysis efforts by helping generate strong evidence packages under European/Australian legal frameworks.
  3. Litigation Support: Contribute to defense and assertion work, including involvement in EPO oppositions and litigation preparation.
  4. Portfolio Input: Assist in evaluating and shaping European/Australian IP assets to maximize licensing value; contribute to UPC strategies in partnership with senior leaders.
  5. Market Analysis: Research market trends and identify relevant licensing targets in video, broadband, OTT, and consumer electronics sectors.
  6. Negotiation Support: Collaborate with the licensing team to prepare materials and analysis for licensing negotiations and support execution of agreements.
  7. Team Collaboration: Serve as a bridge between legal, technical, and business teams to support licensing goals aligned with Adeia’s strategy.
  8. Operational Contribution: Help maintain the licensing pipeline and manage ongoing projects with attention to detail and commercial outcomes.

Qualifications & Experience

  1. Experience: 7+ years of experience in patent law at a law firm or in-house, ideally involving media, tech, or telecommunications IP licensing. Familiarity with European IP enforcement practices required.
  2. Industry Knowledge: Understanding of IP in digital media, consumer electronics, OTT video, or ad-tech. Experience in gaming or e-commerce is a plus.
  3. Legal & Technical Acumen: Ability to understand and discuss complex technical IP matters and legal strategy.
  4. Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills to support negotiation and licensing processes.
  5. Education: Master’s degree in IP Law or related legal discipline; science or engineering background preferred. Solicitor/Barrister qualification or equivalent with an active practicing certificate.

Preferred Attributes

  1. Reliable: Confidently managing IP matters with legal risk exposure under supervision; detail-oriented and dependable.
  2. Collaborative: Works well in team settings across disciplines, supporting senior leadership and contributing to cross-functional projects.
  3. Analytical: Skilled at organizing facts, preparing infringement cases, and applying legal logic.
  4. Proactive: Takes initiative in supporting licensing activities and identifying opportunities for portfolio use.
  5. Adaptable: Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

The base compensation range for this position is £141,000-£155,000.
