Role: Director, Human Resources & EDI

Summary: The Director, HR & EDI will collaborate with the leadership team, colleagues, and volunteers to develop and lead the HR strategy for Golf Ontario, including employment practices to attract, retain, and engage talent, compliance, administration, training, benefits, compensation, and health, safety, and wellness.

The Director, HR & EDI will drive the strategy for advancing Golf Ontario’s commitment to EDI and Safe Sport, including collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to build an inclusive environment that will shape lives by connecting people to positive golf experiences across Ontario.

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Status: Full Time / Permanent

Location: Hybrid work-from-home environment with time required in the office in Uxbridge, ON, and travel throughout the province.

Accountabilities:
  1. Develop and lead the delivery of innovative programs for Golf Ontario colleagues to attract, retain and engage a skilled, diverse and passionate team, including full cycle recruitment and onboarding, talent management, performance management, and training.
  2. Develop and lead the implementation of employment structures, policies, and practices with the highest governance standards.
  3. Develop and lead ongoing review and training for all stakeholders on employment-related policies and procedures, including the Employee Handbook.
  4. Develop and lead programs, policies, and practices for Safe Sport and Health, Safety, and Wellness, including reporting processes and procedures for incidents, complaints, and feedback to ensure effective communication and resolution.
  5. Lead strategy to ensure Safe Sport policy compliance in accordance with industry standards and expectations.
  6. Develop and lead the annual HR and Compensation budget in collaboration with the CEO and CFO.
  7. Lead the work plan delivery of the Board HR & Compensation Committee, with support from the CEO.
  8. Develop and lead programs for Golf Ontario volunteers to attract, retain and engage a diverse group, including service and experience standards.
  9. Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (“EDI”): Drive the EDI Strategy to promote Golf Ontario’s vision of Golf For All, including engagement with the Board EDI Work Group, stakeholder engagement, and content development for the website.
  10. Lead in stakeholder engagement to partner with underrepresented communities and act as a liaison with advocacy groups.
  11. Provide leadership support and consultancy on all EDI matters to business leaders.
  12. Team Culture: Develop and lead strategies for building a performance-based, positive work environment, including leading the social committee and organizing meetings.
  13. Human Resources Administration: Oversee programs such as Safe Sport, chair committees, manage vacation, benefits, payroll, and ensure compliance with legislation.

Requisite Skills / Experience:

  • Minimum of 6-8 years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously, delivering initiatives with integrity.
  • CHRP/CHRL designation.
  • Experience in change management and leadership.
  • Interest and experience in EDI practices; golf knowledge is an asset but not required.
