Job description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive Financial Crime Data strategy aligned with the Group Control organization’s goals and Integrated Financial Crime (IFC) objectives.
  • Oversee the design, development, and implementation of data sourcing, enrichment, and distribution capabilities in the Financial Crime domain, ensuring compliance with data control standards, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
  • Formulate and execute a technology strategy and Data Control Framework as part of the Integrated Financial Crime program, including preventative, detective, and volumetric controls to ensure regulatory and internal policy compliance.
  • Ensure the stability, scalability, and performance of data systems, implementing best practices for monitoring and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with vendors and external partners to evaluate and integrate new technologies and solutions.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders across Compliance, Operations, Change, and Technology to prioritize and deliver the data roadmap.
  • Provide leadership for a global data team of over 100 resources across the UK and India.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Mentor and guide team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
  • Set clear objectives and performance expectations, conducting regular reviews and providing feedback.
  • Act as a catalyst within the organization to advance technology strategy globally and promote organizational change.

Purpose of the role:

Manage the efficient delivery of large-scale technical projects and capabilities across the bank, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders throughout the software product lifecycle to meet time, budget, and quality standards.

Accountabilities:

  • Manage delivery, resource allocation, and improvement of complex technical projects using Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Collaborate with customers and business teams to manage and implement customer trials, supporting feasible solutions and effort/timeline expectations.
  • Work with software engineers, quality teams, product managers, and other engineering teams to deliver high-quality products aligned with bank objectives, regulations, and security policies.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with technical projects.
  • Manage change requests and stakeholder communication throughout projects.
  • Manage vendor relations to ensure delivery according to terms.
  • Stay updated on industry technology trends to evaluate and adopt new approaches, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.

Director Expectations:

  • Manage a business function, contributing to strategic initiatives, policies, and procedures, and overseeing multiple complex projects.
  • Lead a large team or sub-function, embedding a performance culture, or act as a technical expert and thought leader in organization-wide projects.
  • Train, guide, and coach less experienced specialists, influencing long-term profits, risks, and strategic decisions.
  • Provide expert advice to senior management and committees, influencing decisions beyond own function.
  • Manage resourcing, budgeting, and policy creation for a significant sub-function.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and regulations, and monitor external environment and regulators.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of industry practices and external developments.
  • Use advanced analytical skills to solve complex problems and design solutions.
  • Make significant strategic decisions within own area and influence stakeholders at senior levels.
  • Act as a principal contact for key clients and other functions, and serve as a spokesperson for the division.
