Global Corporate & Investment Banking (GCIB) is the division responsible for managing the Bank's key international client relationships and main financing products (Syndication, Structured & Project Finance, Securitisation, Working Capital Solutions, ECA financing, etc.).

The GCIB Business Management function supports GCIB management and business units from strategic, operational and governance perspectives to help the business maintain its license to operate. The role also assists GCIB management in developing and implementing GCIB strategy across EMEA entities.

FLoD KYC is set up to support MUFG Bank and Securities business in managing client KYC for New Business and Periodic assessments, enhancing client experience and generating efficiencies. FLoD KYC for EMEA covers Onboarding, Periodic assessments, Quality Controls, Quality Assurance, Policy & Training, AML and Shared services functions including BoW management, Screening, etc.

This individual will work closely with the Head of FLoD KYC, deputising as required. The role has a high level of responsibility and exposure to senior management within MUFG Bank, as well as key stakeholders globally. Strong strategic planning, effective stakeholder management, and the ability to influence at all levels are key. The role supports the wider team on complex issues, volume/capacity management, and acts as a key decision maker on KYC procedural/process aspects.

The individual will be a key representative within FLoD KYC, working with stakeholders to ensure MUFG understands associated risks and maintains high standards while balancing business needs. An in-depth understanding of regulatory guidance and business processes is essential. A critical aspect of this role is effective resource and capacity management and driving improvements to onboarding service and turnaround times for prospective clients and the business.

ROLES, SCOPE and REPORTING STRUCTURE

The Head Global Markets (GM) KYC reports into:

  • Head FLoD KYC

Head Global Markets (GM) KYC has oversight of approximately 3+ employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for Team’s delivery: Ensure that all client onboardings and Periodic assessments for Global Markets, covering all Primary and Secondary relationships, are managed effectively within targeted turnaround times. Ensure applicable Know Your Customer requirements are met and that the business remains compliant with AML policy and regulatory requirements.
  • End to End KYC: Manage end-to-end process for New Business and periodic assessments including client outreach, partnering with second line AML, SLA management, MI, and data-related tasks.
  • Liaison for end to end onboarding: Work with onboarding teams and support teams within Tax, Credit, Legal, FCoE and Data to ensure overall TAT is adhered to and enhance client onboarding experience within Securities across MUSE, MUSEU and MUS Asia.
  • Time criticality and data sensitivity: Manage highly time-sensitive new business deals (including Capital Markets, Sales & Trading) and handle MNPI data for potential transactions.
  • Audit & Issues Management: Maintain a strong KYC control environment, resolve issues within timelines, respond to audit RFIs within agreed timelines, and support a satisfactory audit rating.
  • Capacity planning, pipeline management and forecasting: Ensure capacity planning and volume forecasting to proactively manage capacity for spikes and growth.
  • Senior Subject Matter Expert (SME): Act as a senior SME on all KYC aspects from processing to policy-related queries.
  • Escalation point for Business: Address escalations promptly within agreed TAT, ensuring AML policy and regulatory compliance.
  • Representing KYC Team & Stakeholder engagement: Represent FLoD KYC on matters to management, compliance, regulators, and auditors; establish strong stakeholder engagement across Securities desks.
  • Ownership of MI for Onboarding: Create, develop, and publish management information reports; ensure clarity and quality in reporting.
  • Training, Development & people management: Manage, coach and mentor KYC teams; support Training & Development and career pathing; provide training to business lines as needed.
  • Owning Team Procedures and Processes: Keep team procedures up to date with policy and regulatory changes.
  • Liaison with Compliance: Act as Compliance liaison, meeting with Financial Crime, handling queries and reporting.
  • Procedural and policy improvements: Drive improvements to KYC processes, controls, and efficiency.
  • Budget & Cost: Manage costs for Global Markets KYC in line with the offshoring strategy and budget; seek efficiencies.

When there is a business requirement, the role may provide support to periodic reviews and remediation for Bank and Securities.

  • Knowledge of various corporate structures (Financial Institutions, Banks and NBFIs, Fund Managers, Hedge Funds and Insurance entities)
  • Strong understanding of managing teams involved in Trade Lifecycle activities and asset classes
  • Awareness of Markets Regulations (FATCA/CRS, MIFID II, EMIR, SBSD, Volcker)
  • Effective communication with stakeholders at all levels and ability to drive outcomes
  • Experienced people manager (onsite and virtual)
  • Face-to-face connects with Front Office, Clients, Compliance and other stakeholders as needed
  • Self-motivated to find solutions

Education / Qualifications:

Essential

  • Degree level or relevant industry experience

Preferred:

  • Relevant qualifications in Anti Money Laundering, fraud and financial crime roles would be highly desirable
