Job summary

Universal Music Group seeks a Director, Business Development to drive growth in Perform Neighbouring Rights by expanding its client base and delivering exceptional service. The role is highly external-facing with influence across UMG’s global rights strategy.

Responsibilities include negotiating terms, developing compelling pitches, and collaborating with internal teams to retain clients and secure renewals across international markets.

Qualifications

  • Proven success in business development and client acquisition within music/entertainment sectors.
  • Experience negotiating commercial terms with artists, managers, lawyers and labels.
  • Strong understanding of neighbouring rights and global rights landscape.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities across international teams and time zones.

Responsibilities

  • Drives new business growth by identifying, pitching to, and converting prospective artist and label clients into long-term partnerships.
  • Develops and delivers high-quality pitch materials articulating Perform Neighbouring Rights’ value proposition.
  • Negotiates commercial terms with managers, lawyers, labels and internal stakeholders to secure sustainable agreements.
  • Works with internal partners across UMG labels, publishing, and third-party organisations.
