Job description

This is an exciting opportunity within Global Mobility and opportunity to mature mobility strategy and operations in a growing project-oriented organization. The primary objective of the Director, Global Mobility is to work with key leaders and internal/external stakeholders and develop the strategy and establish/improve the policies, processes, and organization capability and ensure compliance at KION.

At KION, the global mobility function oversees and administers long-term and short-term international assignments, one-way domestic and international relocations, and immigration, as well as project-based travel and temporary work assignments. This position is responsible for ensuring a high level of service with a key focus on employee experience. Additionally, this person is responsible for program compliance, supplier partner management and ensuring the program meets the needs of our regional and global businesses and stakeholders. The ideal candidate should have a proven track record of managing employee mobility and immigration and have experience/ knowledge in the areas of tax and immigration related laws/practices.

We offer:
  • Lead the KION Global Mobility team and identify strategic business needs; design and execution of the Global Mobility strategy
  • Collaborate with Business Leaders and HR leaders as you define strategy and put GM programs in place
  • Develop strong partnerships and synergies across the various functions including Finance, Legal, Compensation, Benefits, Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Payroll, EHS
  • Put customer experience in forefront and deploy a Global Mobility service delivery model. Provide best in class manager and employee experience
  • Manage and coordinate regional and global relationships with third party supplier partners (tax, relocation, immigration). Lead RFPs, business cases where needed
  • Consult managers, HR partners and lead the global community of GM resources. Educate stakeholders on mobility program and market best practices
  • Ensure compliance as our employees move across various countries
  • Conduct regional business reviews regarding regional activity using data as a driver
  • Develop cost tracking measures to improve visibility into Global Mobility program costs and build strategies to reduce the costs
  • Lead day-to-day delivery of GM services to the organization for long term and short-term assignments including work visas, consulting leaders, managers, HR partners and employees
Tasks and Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience in Global Mobility or related field with bachelor’s or Advanced Degree in a related discipline
  • Ability to build relationship across the organization and ability to provide exceptional levels of customer service. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and ability to discuss detailed, complex concepts with executive leaders
  • Strong supplier management skills
  • Ability to provide white-glove service to executives on assignment
  • Ability to work at both strategic and operational levels. Experience working in HR systems/reporting
  • Ability to translate the technical nature of mobility work (immigration, international taxation) for clear stakeholder understanding
  • Tax equalization, shadow payrollknowledge would be added advantage
  • GMS or CRP Certifications desired, but not required
  • Deep expertise in mobility tax and compliance across multiple geographies
  • Immigration expertise and program management
  • Process and policy development that spans global standards but accounts for local regulations and business as needed
  • Team leadership
  • Business stakeholder management and proven professional courage
  • Capability to drive work forward through a matrixed environment
  • Experience building a mobility program, or transforming existing, i.e. need someone who has experience making both step changes and larger transformations in challenging environments
  • Advanced budget and global vendor management
  • Experience living and working in different countries highly preferred
  • Experience creating audit-proof processes spanning the entire lifecycle of assignments
