Job description

This role is a key part of the Financial Sponsor Coverage Team, focusing on Financial Sponsors and Alternative Asset Managers. The goal is to achieve high-quality revenue growth and cross-sell products within this client base, supporting the EMEA FI Strategy. Facilities mainly serve funds in private equity, secondaries, private credit, real estate, and infrastructure, managed by leading Sponsors across EMEA. The product portfolio includes Fund Finance, such as Vanilla Subscription Facilities, Continuation Vehicles, Hybrids, and Evergreen facilities.

The role involves collaboration with the Department Head, FF Team Head, and other stakeholders to develop and deepen client relationships, support deal origination, lead structuring and documentation review, manage deal execution, oversee portfolio management, and mentor junior team members. Coordination with FF agency, syndication/distributions, FF credit, legal departments, and FF teams across US and APAC is essential. The position has a leadership component to drive and optimize the FF strategy for Financial Sponsors in EMEA.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Delivering on the EMEA FI Sponsor Strategy, achieving financial targets, and managing client relationships.
  2. Engaging directly with Financial Sponsors, Asset Managers, lenders, and legal counsel confidently.
  3. Leading structuring and execution of FF transactions, reviewing and negotiating documentation, and liaising with clients and internal teams.
  4. Managing post-closing activities and deal modelling.
  5. Preparing marketing materials such as pitch books and term sheets.
  6. Identifying new subscription facility opportunities and supporting marketing efforts.
  7. Supporting legal, technical, and client documentation issues, escalating when necessary.
  8. Driving FX product development in collaboration with relevant departments.
  9. Managing deal teams, assigning tasks, and providing coaching.
  10. Preparing internal deal screening materials and securing management approvals.
  11. Monitoring risk, overseeing credit applications, and ensuring compliance.
  12. Coordinating with regional teams for seamless client service.
  13. Supporting junior staff with reporting and data analysis.
  14. Participating in initiatives related to the FI business, including Bank, MUSE, and MUTB projects.
  15. Supporting expansion of MUFG's EU FI product range through new product approvals.
  16. Representing MUFG at seminars and conferences.

Minimum requirements include:

  • 8-12 years of experience in drafting, structuring, and executing Subscription Facility/Capital Call transactions in EMEA.
  • Experience in originating and offering solutions for Subscription Facilities and Capital Calls.
  • Leadership experience in fund finance transactions as an arranger or agent.
  • Track record in syndication/distribution within a bank.
  • Banking experience in FX, Agency, Syndication is advantageous.
  • Ability to build and manage client portfolios and deal teams.
  • Experience managing direct reports is preferred.

Essential skills and competencies include:

  • Understanding of Subscription Facilities documentation and structure.
  • Knowledge of banking operations like FX, Agency, Syndication.
  • Awareness of regulatory environment affecting Fund Finance.
  • Strong credit analysis skills.
  • Leadership and mentoring abilities.
  • Fluency in English, additional languages are a plus.
  • Relevant university degree or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle large workloads under tight deadlines.
  • Attention to detail, numerical skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
