THE VACANCY
Director for Neighbourhoods
Hours: Full time

Contract: Permanent

Salary: Up to £130,000 per annum plus benefits

Location: Dudley

As Director for Neighbourhoods, you will lead some of the council's most visible, valued, and wide-ranging functions: -

  • Waste & recycling, energy from waste plant management, household waste, commercial/traded and recycling provision
  • Street cleansing, street furniture maintenance and public realm strategy
  • Grounds maintenance, nature reserves, parks and countryside, rights of way, green care, open spaces and tree management
  • Community development & empowerment, community Safety, ASB, travellers' services
  • Leisure, libraries, community access points, historic and community assets and cultural events
  • Visitor economy, bereavement and registration
  • Out-of-hours emergency Response

Your leadership will have a direct impact on residents' day-to-day lives, creating pride in place, safer streets, greener spaces, and vibrant communities.

  • An experienced senior leader with a track record of delivering neighbourhood or place-based services.
  • A strategic thinker who can develop modern, community-first services backed by robust performance frameworks.
  • A transformation champion - skilled in-service redesign, technology-enabled innovation, and process improvement.
  • An inspiring people leader who fosters collaboration, inclusion, and high performance.
  • A confident communicator and adviser to Chief Executive, Members, and key partners.
  • A passionate advocate for community resilience, sustainability, and local pride.
