A government department is seeking a Finance Director - Operations to provide financial leadership and management. This role involves overseeing accounts production, financial reporting, and strategic financial planning while driving efficiency in operations during a significant change journey. Ideal candidates should possess strong financial expertise and experience in public sector finance.
The Chief Operating Officer Group is responsible for ensuring that operational and policy teams in the Home Office have the support they need to achieve the Department’s priorities. The work is captured in a wide portfolio of enabling functions including human resources, estates, finance, investment management, performance management, governance and assurance, commercial, science and innovation, and security.
The finance function comprises two Director roles with a Strategic and Operational focus. This role, the Operational Finance Director, is focused on: accounts production; system and management accounting; transactions and the in-year financial reporting; project and programme finance; and finance responsibilities for the Synergy Shared Services programme. The other Finance Director focuses on: strategic finance; financial planning; and business partnering.
As the Finance Director - Operations, you will report to the Chief Operating Officer and will provide strong leadership for financial management and control for the Home Office, with a relentless focus on maximising the efficiency of the Department’s delivery.
