As Director of Data Center Power Procurement, you will lead strategic engagement with utilities and energy partners across the EU to secure scalable, cost-effective, and reliable power for Prologis’ expanding data center portfolio. This includes both new developments and conversions of existing assets. You will manage the full power procurement process, from feasibility assessments and interconnection applications to negotiating grid connection agreements, tariffs, and special contracts. Your work will align with Prologis’ project timelines, financial goals, and sustainability priorities while ensuring compliance with national and EU energy regulations.

In this collaborative and high-impact role, you will work closely with development, legal, and finance teams to support projects from early-stage evaluation through execution. You will help shape infrastructure strategies for large-scale data center campuses and represent Prologis in conversations with utilities and transmission system operators. You will also identify opportunities to transform Prologis’ real estate holdings in key cities into high-performing data center sites by evaluating power availability and infrastructure readiness. Your leadership will be essential in positioning Prologis as a leader in data center development throughout Europe.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive utility strategy for Prologis data center projects in Europe.
  • Lead complex negotiations with utilities, energy providers, and key stakeholders to secure favorable terms for power procurement, interconnection agreements, and tariffs, leveraging strong negotiation skills to align technical requirements with commercial objectives.
  • Manage utilities, EPC firms, and Owner’s Engineers to deliver high-voltage and medium-voltage power infrastructure, including leading contract negotiations and overseeing the execution of key agreements.
  • Lead the procurement of substation EPC work, ensuring alignment between utility interconnection and on-site infrastructure.
  • Serve as the primary interface with the procurement team for long-lead electrical equipment (LLE), supporting the data center team in planning and scheduling orders to meet energization milestones.
  • Monitor and manage risks related to power and substations, escalating issues and providing updates to the data center team and broader organization.
  • Develop a multi-year pipeline of data center projects by aligning Prologis’ real estate assets with grid power availability and fiber network access.
  • Assess the reliability and cost-effectiveness of onsite temporary power solutions, such as fuel cells, gas turbines, catalyzers, and co-location with new or existing generation assets to support timely power delivery.
  • Support data center development initiatives across Prologis’ existing building and land bank assets, as well as new site acquisitions, by evaluating infrastructure feasibility and aligning energy strategy with development goals.
  • Perform the necessary financial modelling to understand project economics.
  • Manage contractual relationships and coordinate with legal, as needed, to assist with contract negotiations and to resolve programmatic needs/requirements.
  • Support the marketing team in data center lease and sale transactions.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with regional internal and external stakeholders including utility executives, consultants, designers, and equipment vendors to deliver power to projects efficiently, consistently, and on schedule.
  • Follow key energy regulatory issues and assess the impact of potential technology and regulatory changes on existing projects and pipeline.
  • Work with utility regulators to develop policies and guidelines that enable broader Prologis strategies and objectives.
What's needed to do that:
  • 7+ years of electric utility experience in transmission planning, substation development / engineering, distribution system planning, interconnection of large load projects.
  • Must have experience analyzing energy projects and negotiating interconnection agreements and related contracts with utilities and contractors.
  • Able to travel up to 40% of the time.
Preferred:
  • Qualification in a quantitative field (e.g., engineering, economics, statistics)
  • Expertise in grid planning, interconnections, and substation development for data centers
  • Knowledge of EU power markets, especially Germany, and regulatory frameworks
  • Strong industry network across Europe in power procurement and cabling
  • Experience with tariffs, PPAs, and infrastructure contracts
  • Familiar with data center development and energy demand patterns
  • Understanding of electricity market design and emerging energy solutions
