Job description

Role Summary

Reporting into the Cloud and Productivity Engineering Organisation, this role will own and deliver the London Stock Exchange Group's public cloud & developer architecture. Innovation is central to this program, and the focus areas will evolve to meet business, security, and digital strategy needs.

The Head of Cloud Architecture will lead the strategy, design, and evolution of LSEG's strategic public and private cloud platforms. This role will also own, lead, and develop a global dispersed team responsible for cloud strategy & design, standards, processes, methodologies, and architecture to enable business innovation, simplify technology landscapes, and enhance operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Drive the acceleration, adoption, and migration of applications to the public cloud, aiming to move the majority of the LSEG / Refinitiv estate to cloud environments.
  2. Own the technical and architectural integrity and strategic roadmap of Cloud Networking, ensuring successful delivery of business and technical outcomes.
  3. Retire or decommission data centers globally in favor of cloud-hosted environments.
  4. Collaborate with the Group CISO and IT security teams to enhance security controls.
  5. Leverage emerging and innovative cloud and development technologies to simplify the technology landscape, improve customer experience, and reduce costs.
  6. Work with chapters to define cloud and developer service strategies, including standards, blueprints, processes, and patterns.
  7. Act as a Cloud evangelist, promoting understanding of cloud benefits, challenges, and implications, and assisting teams in their cloud transition.
  8. Build relationships across the Engineering community to establish and implement consistent architecture aligned with future technology needs, approved by relevant governance bodies.
  9. Engage with cloud platform users and communicate with senior stakeholders, including up to C-Level executives.
  10. Partially perform the role of Agile 'Product Owner' for the cloud platform.
  11. Ensure feedback and learning are incorporated early and frequently.
Candidate Profile / Key Skills
  1. Deep technical expertise with relevant infrastructure technologies.
  2. Experience in areas such as SDLC, Platforms (Istio, Serverless, Kubernetes), Agile, DevSecOps, high-performance computing, machine learning, and polyglot programming languages (C, C++, C#, Java, Rust, Go, Python).
  3. Proven experience in senior technology roles within large enterprise public cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  4. Ability to lead technological and cultural change, promoting automation and infrastructure as a fabric for building.
  5. Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and team-building skills, with experience in motivating global teams and fostering high-trust environments.
  6. Knowledge of PaaS, SaaS, IaaS, cloud best practices, and latest industry developments.
  7. Experience working in agile and DevOps cultures, with a good understanding of operating systems, network infrastructures, RDBMS, and infrastructure-as-code tools.
