THE ROLE

The Director, Clinical Data Operationsis a senior functional leadership role responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, operational performance, and talent development of the Clinical Data Operations function across multiple countries within a designated region. This role works closely with the Head of Function (HOF) to develop, align, and execute functional strategies, ensuring excellence in customer success, project delivery, workforce planning, and operational compliance.

This role serves as a strategic partner to senior leadership, playing a key role in driving functional alignment across regions, supporting business growth, championing change initiatives, and developing future leaders. Responsibilities
  • Serve as the first line functional escalation for Engagement Managers for customer challenges, working proactively to troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and implement effective resolutions
  • Monitor customer health across the region, ensuring proactive engagement and value delivery
  • Lead initiatives to enhance customer satisfaction, aligning with RFT quality goals and operational excellence frameworks
  • Implement preventive measures to mitigate risks and maintain operational and delivery stability
  • Support regional account development, particularly with complex or strategic customers, ensuring delivery excellence and customer retention
  • Collaborate with the HOF to develop, execute, and oversee regional functional strategies, ensuring alignment with the company's broader objectives
  • Own and drive regional KPIs (e.g., utilization, Right First Time (RFT) quality, QA compliance), collaborating closely with other Regional Directors across Operations to proactively identify areas for improvement, share best practices, and drive functional and cross-functional enhancements
  • Oversee execution of regional strategic goals, acting as a key partner to senior leadership to champion initiatives that drive business growth, operational efficiency, and innovation
  • Represent the function at leadership forums, driving cross-functional alignment and advocating for functional needs
  • Provide oversight and governance of complex, high-risk, or critical deliverables to ensure quality, timeliness, and customer satisfaction
  • Partner with Customer Success, Commercial, and the wider Operations Team to support large or complex opportunities, including new business development and resolution of escalations when needed
  • Promote adherence to company processes, SOPs, policies, and governance frameworks in partnership with QA and Process Excellence teams
  • Monitor and drive resource utilization and capacity management, ensuring optimal deployment to meet financial targets
  • Drive Open Air compliance for workforce planning, resourcing, forecasting, and financial tracking, ensuring integrity of reporting and alignment with customer and business needs
  • Champion continuous process optimization, including SOP development, CAPA processes, and functional best practice alignment
Qualifications
  • Degree Biometrics, Computer Science, Biostatistics, Data Science, or a related field
  • Experience in clinical research, or related data solution areas, with leadership experience across multi-country operations
  • Proven track record managing people, projects and functional areas to achieve operational excellence
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams (including QA, HR, and Customer Success) and in matrixed organizations
  • Proficiency in key systems (QMS, ERP) and understanding of clinical development regulations and best practices
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to build credibility at all organizational levels
