Salary: £26,000 Per Annum

Closing Date: Mon, 14 Apr 2025

We are recruiting for multiple Direct Lending Advisers to come and join our Homes Business. This role requires any successful candidates to join on Monday 12th May.

Who Are We?

Not just another building society. Not just another job. We're the fourth biggest building society in the UK and what makes us a bit different is that we're a mutual organisation. We don't have shareholders; we're owned by our members.

Our colleagues say Skipton's a great place to work, and you could be one of them, bringing with you new ideas on how we can keep customers at the heart of what we do. Whatever your background, and whatever your goals, we'll help you take the next step towards a better future.

What’s In It For You?

We have a range of other benefits available to you including:

  1. Annual discretionary bonus scheme
  2. 25 days standard annual leave + bank holidays + rising 1 day per year of service to a maximum of 30 days
  3. Holiday trading scheme allowing the ability to buy and sell additional annual leave days
  4. Matching employer pension contribution (up to 10% per annum)
  5. Colleague mortgage (conditions apply)
  6. A commitment to training and development
  7. Private medical insurance for all our colleagues
  8. 3 paid volunteering days per annum
  9. Diverse and inclusive colleague networks available for you to join including our Carers and Pride Alliance groups
  10. We care about your health and wellbeing – we provide a range of benefits that support this including cycle to work initiative and discounted gym membership
What Will You Be Doing?

You will be answering a variety of customer inquiries related to their mortgage application, with your main focus being to guide them through the Decision in Principle (DIP) process, which includes the following:

  1. Through curious questioning, you’ll be finding out what the customer is hoping to achieve and cross-referencing it with the lending policy to ensure that the mortgage application is viable.
  2. You will be verifying the customer's income and expenditure which involves not only checking basic affordability but also understanding any unique circumstances the customer might have that could affect the lending decision.
  3. Completing the credit search is the final step in the process as it gives customers a better idea of how much they may be able to borrow and what to expect from Skipton.
  4. After a successful DIP, you will take ownership of the customer and support them through to the next stage of being booked in with a qualified mortgage adviser.

Homes Advice provides a dynamic and supportive work environment that fosters both personal growth and career development. The fast-paced nature of the role ensures continuous learning and adaptation. Our teams work collaboratively, sharing knowledge and offering support to each other.

What Do We Need From You?

We are looking for individuals who are motivated by providing an excellent customer journey and who strive to develop themselves. You must have the ability and experience to communicate clearly and comprehensively, making complex and detailed information understandable to anyone, whilst applying empathy and human touch to your conversations.

We need brave and innovative people to seek opportunities to grow our business through proactive customer contact, delivering on promises and making things happen. The ability to understand and meet customer needs is key to delivering an excellent experience and ensuring positive outcomes. Previous experience of being involved in a customer’s mortgage journey is essential. This role may close early if a high number of applications are received.
