Job summary

Diocese of Chester is seeking a Diocesan Safeguarding Officer to provide professional leadership and oversee management of safeguarding for children and vulnerable adults across the diocese. The successful candidate will bring extensive safeguarding experience, relevant qualifications, and a commitment to promoting welfare in line with the Church of England.

An Enhanced DBS disclosure is required; interviews are scheduled for 1st October 2026.

Qualifications

• Relevant professional qualification or equivalent training.
• Support for the aims and objectives of the Diocese and Church of England.

Job description

The Diocese of Chester is seeking to recruit a Diocesan Safeguarding Officer who will have responsibility in the Diocese for the professional leadership on, and management of, matters relating to the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults.

The successful candidate will have a relevant professional qualification or equivalent training or experience together with extensive experience of safeguarding of children and adults. They will have sympathy with the aims and objectives of the Church of England.
