Job description

We are looking for a Digital Transition Manager to join the Digital Architecture & Products team at Canterbury Christ Church University.

Reporting to the Head of Digital Design, you will play a key role in ensuring that new and changed IT services are introduced into live operation smoothly and efficiently, with minimal disruption to users.

You will plan and manage service transitions, working closely with Digital Design, Digital Solutions, Digital Service Operations, Digal Service Delivery and business stakeholders to ensure that transition activities are aligned with project timelines and organisational needs. You will establish and implement structured transition frameworks, processes, templates and best practice to support consistent and reliable service delivery. You will also be responsible for the digital service catalogue.

A key part of the role will be ensuring that services are ready for operational use and that appropriate acceptance criteria are met. You will coordinate the preparation of operational teams, users and support staff, ensuring that training is delivered and that documentation is complete, accurate and accessible.

You will also identify and manage risks and issues associated with service transition, taking proactive steps to minimise potential disruption and support successful deployment. Following implementation, you will conduct post-implementation reviews, gather feedback from stakeholders and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

The role will also ensure that service transition activities align with relevant Digital governance, security and compliance requirements, helping to maintain the quality, reliability and effectiveness of digital services across the University.

You will have a breadth or depth of knowledge and experience that enables you to act as a point of reference to others. You will have knowledge and experience in areas including record keeping, coordination of processes, delivery planning and ITIL Service Transition processes.

You will be able to engage in small projects or workstreams within larger projects, ensuring that deliverables are completed on time. You will be confident maintaining documentation, tracking progress, identifying potential risks and communicating effectively with stakeholders.

You will be proficient in a range of digital tools and able to use technology effectively to support your work. You will also demonstrate the ability to adapt to changing priorities and identify opportunities to improve processes and practices.

As the role involves regularly handling highly detailed, technical or specialist information, you will be able to communicate complex information clearly, both verbally and in writing. You will work independently, using your judgement to make decisions within your area of responsibility while collaborating effectively with colleagues and stakeholders when required.

You will also be expected to contribute to the wider team by sharing knowledge, supporting colleagues and helping with induction and development activities. The role involves delivering basic training sessions using prepared materials and responding to straightforward questions from participants.

Campus attendance will vary on a day-to-day basis and across the year but must purposefully align to the needs of our students, staff, and stakeholders. It is expected that there will be a relatively even balance between time spent on and off campus; however in most cases the work location will be determined by the service required or the tasks/activities being undertaken.
