DEGREE APPRENTICESHIP

You will be working towards a full-time job and studying towards a degree apprenticeship with Sheffield Hallam University on our flagship BSc (Hons) in Digital and Technology Solutions. It’s a 3-year course with an initial 12-week bootcamp at Sheffield Hallam University. You will then study part-time using a blended approach of on-campus and online learning while working full-time. You will learn industry-standard technologies and modules such as programming fundamentals, systems analysis and design, database administration, and software engineering. The degree includes a final project in collaboration with Capgemini’s business.

You will join a large business area working for our biggest UK public sector client, collaborating with experts from whom you can learn and grow. You will be part of a community of Graduates and Apprentices.

As an Apprentice Software Engineer, you will be an integral part of a Scrum team, working with senior and junior engineers who share your passion for Agile practices, high-quality software, and innovative problem-solving. Your responsibilities will include:

• Collaborating with team members to design, develop, and deliver software solutions that meet client needs.
• Embracing Agile methodologies to improve productivity and project success.
• Learning from and mentoring team members to foster knowledge sharing.
• Allocating time for technical certifications and professional growth.
• Engaging in diverse projects to challenge your skills and broaden your horizons.

YOUR PROFILE

To be eligible, you need:

• 7 GCSEs including Maths and English (grades 4-9)
• Understanding of software development methodologies and best practices.
• Good problem-solving and analytical skills.

Plus one of the following:

• 3 A*-C grades at A-level (excluding AS Levels)
• Completed Advanced Apprenticeship
• BTEC (minimum of MMM)

This role is based in Telford, West Midlands. You should be within a commutable distance and expect to be in the Telford office about 3 days a week. Other opportunities may offer different locations.

YOUR SECURITY CLEARANCE

Successful candidates must obtain SC clearance, which requires residing in the UK continuously for the past 5 years, among other criteria. During the recruitment process, questions about your eligibility for security clearance will be asked, including nationality and residence details.
