We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Deerbolt, working as a Digital Skills Teacher. This role is offered on a permanent, full-time basis, working 37 hours per week.

Site Information

HMP Deerbolt is a Category C, male, young offenders institution located near Barnard Castle, County Durham. The prison provides educational programs, vocational training, workshops, healthcare services, and sports facilities. These initiatives are geared towards equipping inmates with skills and support for reintegration into society.

Role Responsibilities

Candidates will be required to teach:

NCFE Entry Level 3 Digital Functional Skills Qualification & NCFE Level 1 Digital Functional Skills Qualification, in line with NCFE's qualification handbook.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need to:

  • Teaching qualification and where applicable, relevant subject specialist qualification - with a commitment to obtain the outstanding qualification within 12 months
  • Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)/ Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS)
