What you'll be doing
As an LNER Digital Project Manager, you will lead the delivery of assigned projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards, with benefits aligned to business cases.
You will oversee the full project lifecycle, managing stakeholders effectively, tracking key activities, and controlling budgets.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing projects from initiation to delivery, covering planning, coordination, implementation, execution, and control.
- Ensuring project alignment with company strategy, commitments, and goals.
- Proactively managing dependencies, overcoming obstacles, and optimizing value within constraints.
- Working closely with stakeholders to deliver projects on schedule and within budget, providing visibility and control.
- Managing risks and issues proactively to minimize delays.
- Overseeing project budgets to prevent over- or under-spending beyond tolerances.
- Managing the handover to Business As Usual (BAU) to ensure production stability.
- Building and maintaining motivated teams with clear, iterative plans.
- Supporting the Digital Programme Manager in planning, coordination, and tracking project progress.
- Reporting on project success, including customer and business benefits, CSAT, revenue, and costs.
- Developing continuous improvement initiatives, including EFQM/Lean projects.
- Supporting wider business contingency planning by maintaining a secondary competence role.
This role requires working in our York or Kings Cross office a minimum of 2 days per week.
What you'll need
- At least 3 years of experience in a Project Management role
- Ability to manage and lead stakeholders at all levels
- Business-focused with creativity
- Experience in business development and negotiation
- Experience managing budgets and controls
- Ability to develop complex plans managing multiple suppliers and dependencies
- Strong influencing and communication skills
- Collaborative team player
- Proven leadership in managing people
- Prince2 or equivalent (desirable but not essential)
- EFQM/Lean Six Sigma (desirable but not essential)
